Discover the magic of Lake Titicaca through the floating Uros Islands and Taquile Island. Explore their ancestral traditions, local crafts, and breathtaking landscapes as you sail across the highest navigable lake in the world.
Our Lake Titicaca experience begins early in the morning with a pick-up from your hotel in Puno, taking you to the majestic Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world. From the port, we will board a boat to the unique floating Uros Islands, built entirely with totora reeds. The local inhabitants will give you a warm welcome and show you how they build their islands, houses, and boats, as well as their daily life on the water. You will have the opportunity to walk around the island.
Next, we will sail to Taquile Island, known for its natural beauty and ancestral traditions. We will take a moderate hike with panoramic views of the lake and enjoy a traditional lunch prepared by a local family. We will visit a weaving workshop, where you will learn about their UNESCO-recognized textile art, before returning to the port and finally to your hotel in Puno at sunset.
We will visit two emblematic islands:
The tour is a full-day experience. It generally starts with hotel pickup in Puno early in the morning (approximately 7:00 a.m.) and concludes with the return to your hotel around sunset (approximately between 4:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.).
Yes. The tour includes a traditional lunch on Taquile Island. The dishes are prepared by the local community, allowing you to enjoy authentic Andean flavors while appreciating the views of the lake.
On Taquile Island, we will undertake a hike considered to be of moderate intensity. Although the route is beautiful and panoramic, please note that it takes place at 3,812 meters (12,500 feet) above sea level, so it is vital to walk slowly and ensure you have completed prior acclimatization.
Yes, it is essential. Lake Titicaca is located at 3,812 meters (12,500 feet) in altitude. To prevent altitude sickness, we strongly recommend having spent at least 2 full days in Puno or Cusco before engaging in any physical activity on the lake.
